eleventh hour institute (EHI)
The Eleventh Hour Institute (EHI) provides opportunity for both lay workers and credentialed ministers to be trained to participate fully in the accomplishment of the Great Commission. An EHI can be held for only a few days, or can continue up to three weeks depending on what is requested.
A carefully chosen faculty teaches designated courses. In this way, a biblical vision for global mission among African church leaders, pastors, missionaries and lay workers is advanced.

history
The first Eleventh Hour Institute was conducted as an Eastern Region initiative in 1999. In a phenomenal effort, the Eastern Region brought together 165 leaders from throughout the region to attend the 3 ½ week-long institute held in Lilongwe, Malawi.
The institute presentations were translated and put into a reader in four languages: Swahili, Chichewa, English and French. Excitement was high as those present felt a mighty confirmation from the Lord that Africa was becoming a missions-sending force.
From this beginning, the EHI has spread under the joint auspices of the World Missions Commission of the Africa Assemblies of God Alliance and Africa Theological Training Service. Dr. Chakwera serves as president, while ATTS Ministries Coordinator, Jerry Spain, serves as facilitator.
Eleventh Hour Institutes have been conducted in every region of Africa as well as in individual countries. Specialized EHIs are envisioned as a response to calls for training for specific focus groups. Teachers represent many nations of Africa and the world. Each EHI assumes its own dynamic, and all have yielded strong commitment to cross-cultural ministry and church planting as is indicated by the goals formed at the end of the institute by each delegation.
