Carl and Terri Gibbs

Director of Educational Development

For the past five years, Dr. Carl Gibbs has served as the director of educational development for Africa’s Hope. In this capacity he focuses on the training needs on the continent of Africa and oversees the production of resource materials that will help sustain its great Pentecostal revival.

Carl travels extensively in Africa, teaching at the six Assemblies of God graduate schools. He serves as the Africa’s Hope liaison to the graduate schools in Africa and Pan-Africa Theological Seminary in Lomé, Togo.

In the past year, Carl has worked with the Africa’s Hope team to develop five new English texts for the Africa’s Hope Discovery Series and to translate eight other texts into French. This series is aunique Bible training tool developed specifically for Africans and written by Africans or persons with ministry experience in Africa.

Carl, and his wife, Terri, have worked to produce leadership training materials for more than 30 years. They served 11 years in Brazil where they helped develop the Brazilian Extension School of Theology curriculum, now studied by more than 18,000 students annually.

Carl and Terri continue to have an active ministry in Portuguese-speaking Africa. Recently they partnered with a missionary team to produce a series of Portuguese study texts called Roots of Faith (Raizes da Fé). These foundational courses are designed to provide basic Bible training to the more than 15,000 pastors in Portuguese-speaking Africa. The series has found immediate acceptance in Angola. In the past 12 months, more than 1,400 students have enrolled in this course.
