Training in Africa has an exciting, dynamic and clear purpose: to keep the church focused on harvest and mission in order to retain and expand the exponential growth of recent years.
It has been my honor to have spent my entire missionary career in training. I worked alongside my husband, John, in three Bible colleges in Nigeria and then in creating and directing Africa Theological Training Service/Africa’s Hope, until John’s homegoing in 2005. Now I am program coordinator for Pan-Africa Theological Seminary (PAThS) in Lomé, Togo. PAThS, the first doctoral program of the Assemblies of God on the continent of Africa, trains church leaders and educators from nearly 20 countries in Africa as well as many U.S. missionaries to Africa.
I would encourage anyone feeling a call to missions to seriously consider preparing for a ministry in training. Only eternity will reveal the depth of influence that a Spirit-filled, missional trainer can have on students who will in turn impact nations!
