South Sudan Training Project

South Sudan

South Sudan is a country that has been in crisis since its independence in 2011. It is estimated that over 400,000 people have been killed in South Sudan since 2013 because of the civil war. Even today, violence is widespread, poverty is deep, and there are many internally displaced people. However, amidst these tragedies, there is hope. Through the gospel of Jesus Christ, hope is being brought by African leaders to their own people.

Rev. Peter Dor Deng, originally from South Sudan, received his training at Addis Ababa Bible College in Ethiopia. After serving with the Assemblies of God in Ethiopia, he felt called to return to his homeland. He returned to South Sudan in 2024 as a missionary, supported by the Assemblies of God of Ethiopia. Since then, he has planted 33 churches among the Nuer people. Another group of 12 churches recently joined them to form the Assemblies of God of South Sudan.

The need for pastoral development is great, as most of the individuals who are leading churches have very little training. Recently, a missionary family from the Tanzania Assemblies of God has moved to Juba to help provide training in South Sudan. Furahini and Amadina Ndeme have a burden to see pastors trained, but they need our help.‍

How you can help us impact South Sudan:

1. Three years of rent to have a place to train pastors: $500 per month, or a total of $6,000 per year or $18,000 for three years

2. Basic furnishings for the classroom and sleeping quarters for students/pastors: $5000

3. Transportation costs for visiting teachers from neighboring countries: $12,000
