Computer Labs

As critical needs arise, Africa's Hope provides computers for Bible school libraries, administrators, teachers, and students. These valuable resources improve communication, instruction, record keeping, everyday school operations, and the overall learning experience of every student.

In 2021, computers were prepared for four Bible schools in Benin and Togo.

e-quip
tablets

Designed to equip trainers, these tablets provide a library of biblical training and research materials in digital format for easy access and portability in areas of Africa where standard physical resources are not readily available. Each tablet is loaded with more than 700 books, including all of the Africa’s Hope Discovery Series curriculum and 10 supporting texts for each course. There are multiple sets of Bible commentaries, Bible dictionaries, atlases, and concordances. The tablets are also loaded with several hundred articles and journals on a variety of topics of interest to pastors, teachers, and church leaders in Africa.

In 2021, we distributed tablets to Botswana, Ethiopia, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, and Uganda.

AudioDisciple

The AudioDisciple is a portable, solar-powered audio device that is designed to help disciple the illiterate, the visually impaired, and those from oral cultures with low literacy rates. In addition to hearing the Bible in their own language, listeners can hear a dramatized recording of the gospel story, as well as the first book in our Roots of Faith series to help them grow in their walk with God and become mature disciples of Christ. We are initially targeting English, French, and Portuguese, which are some of the most widely spoken languages across the continent. Several other major language groups will also be targeted in the future, including Arabic, Hausa, Oromiffa, and Swahili.

In 2021, despite travel restrictions because of the pandemic, we sent AudioDisciple devices to Botswana, Ethiopia, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, and Uganda. Additionally, we made the audio content available online for easy access and streaming purposes.

Africa
Oasis

OASIS (Open African Student Information System) is an academic record-keeping program adapted by Africa’s Hope for use in African Bible schools. The program tracks grades, creates student reports, generates transcripts, and allows for the easy backup of data. In short, OASIS allows the school registrar (or other office staff) to have immediate access to student data and to track every student record from enrollment to graduation and beyond. This software can be loaded onto a self-contained mini-computer called a Raspberry Pi.

In 2021, OASIS mini-computer systems were distributed during specialized training workshops that were held for Bible schools in Ethiopia, Kenya, Nigeria, and Rwanda.

Library
Box

The LibraryBox is a mini-computer with software for Bible schools to help them run their libraries. This software enables school librarians to easily catalog resources, create barcodes and spine labels, search the library’s collection, and monitor the general circulation of inventory.

Last year, LibraryBox units were distributed during specialized training workshops that were held for Ethiopia, Kenya, Nigeria, and Rwanda.
